Wearable senior safety and location tracking system

Personal Watcher Locator was designed as a wearable safety and location tracking solution for seniors, supporting peace of mind for patients, families, and caregivers.
The first-generation product achieved strong adoption and validation in real-world use, demonstrating that the form factor and value proposition resonated with its users.
However, operational reality revealed a critical challenge: frequent battery depletion and strap wear led to repeated replacements, significantly increasing maintenance effort and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Over time, these recurring costs threatened the economic viability of the solution for families and care providers, despite its functional success.
The challenge
How to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership of a wearable senior-care device without compromising usability, reliability, or patient acceptance?
The solution
The watch-like architecture was reconfigured by coupling the consumable components - strap and battery - into a single, easily replaceable module.
This allowed untrained personnel to perform replacements on site – eliminating the need for costly vendor refurbishment.
